THE SOUND OF FLOWING WATER

Have you ever sat down near a body of water that had waterfalls, a stream, or near a lake? If so you know how soothing the sound of water flowing is then. If not and you are not able to, find sounds on YouTube or Google them. Play them softly in the background while you are playing on your device or reading, meditating, just being.

I have a miniature water fountain in my home and the sound of it takes me to the forest where we love to hike. We love visiting trails we haven’t been to yet and love to be out in nature. It is beautiful to connect the sound of flowing water to your mindset. It helps to create a security that only nature has.

For me, the security nature shares are knowing that if we were to lose our way, just follow the river and we will be okay. Of course, the sound can also cause one to realize they should have gone to the restroom before they set out hiking-haha!

The sound of water flowing also reminds me that many wildlife creatures are able to drink from the river or stream. The fish live in the water that is flowing by us as well as other creatures of nature. Water is everything. It is used by humans and animals alike to live. I for one drink a lot of water, as do my plants, my cats, my hubby. I am grateful for the clean water we have here in the USA, and I am grateful for the health benefit as it keeps us hydrated so we don’t fall ill.

Ever get headaches? That is a sure sign you may be dehydrated. Neck pain? Another sign you may be dehydrated. (NOTE: These are just experiences from my life.) While I am sitting down, I drink water and take some deep breaths. When I exhale, I let my entire body relax and within a few minutes, I am good to go once again.

Back to the sound. It brings us close to more of a peaceful state in our being. Our mind, our body, and our soul. Who doesn’t want that, especially in today’s chaotic mess of a world! So if you get a chance, take five minutes a day and listen to a running stream with your eyes closed and breathing gently in and out, while letting go of the tension you may have in your neck and shoulders. Let your shoulders drop and this will stretch your neck muscles releasing tension as you breathe.

The Sound of Music is now The Sound of Water.

Until next week, just breathe…
